Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 660432 Size: SH
  1. Install the fuel filter to the fuel filter/heater element housing.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the fuel filter bracket to the fuel filter/heater element housing.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the bracket-to-housing bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  5. Install the filter/heater element housing to the valve cover.
  6. Tighten
Tighten the fuel filter bracket-to-valve cover bolts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  7. Install the EGR sensor bracket assembly and bolts.
  8. Tighten
Tighten bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  9. Connect electrical and vacuum to:
  10. • EGR valve vent solenoid
    • EGR valve vacuum sensor
    • EGR valve solenoid
  11. Connect the fuel hoses to the fuel filter/heater element housing.
  12. Prime the fuel system. Refer to Fuel Feed Pipe and Return Pipe Purging .
  13. Connect the fuel heater and water-in-fuel sensor harness connectors.
  14. Connect the negative battery cables. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  15. Start the engine and inspect for fuel leaks.
