The retained accessory power (RAP) is a subsystem of the body control module (BCM). The RAP is designed to provide power to the following accessories when the ignition is in the run or accessory position, and up to 20 minutes when the ignition switch is in the off position.

    • The power windows
    • The radio
    • The sunroof (if equipped)
    • Onstarâ„¢ (if equipped)

Power is supplied by the battery positive voltage circuit to the RAP relay at all times. The BCM grounds the RAP relay control circuit only when in RAP with the doors closed or with the ignition ON. The RAP relay then supplies power to the RDO1 and RAP2 fuse (if equipped) and the PWR WDO circuit breaker. When any door is opened or the ignition switch is turned to ACCY, the BCM will remove the ground and the RAP relay will allow power to the accessories to be supplied by the accessory voltage circuit. Once the RAP relay is energized, the accessories remain operational until any of the following conditions exist:

    • The 20 minute timer elapses.
    • Any door is opened.
    • The door handle switch is activated.
