Battery Tray Replacement Single or Auxiliary

Removal Procedure

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery negative terminal. Refer to Battery Cable .
  2. Disconnect the battery positive cable from the battery positive terminal.

  4. Remove the battery hold-down bolt and retainer.
  5. Remove the battery.

  6. Object Number: 186825  Size: SH
  7. Remove the battery tray reinforcement bolts.
  8. Remove the battery tray reinforcement from the vehicle.

  9. Object Number: 186812  Size: SH
  10. Remove the battery tray bolts.
  11. Remove the battery tray from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 186812  Size: SH
  1. Install the battery tray to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the battery tray bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the battery tray reinforcement to the vehicle
  6. Install the battery tray reinforcement bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the retainer bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install the battery.
  9. Install the hold-down retainer and bolt.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the retainer bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  11. Install the battery positive cable to the battery.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the cable to 17 N·m (13 lb in).

  13. Install the battery negative cable to the battery.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the cable to 17 N·m (13 lb in).

Battery Tray Replacement With Auxiliary

Removal Procedure

  8. Remove the battery tray reinforcement from the vehicle.

  11. Remove the battery tray from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the battery tray to the vehicle.

  5. Install the battery tray reinforcement to the vehicle.
  6. Install the battery tray reinforcement bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the retainer bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install the battery.
  9. Install the hold-down retainer and bolt.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the retainer bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  11. Install the battery positive cable to the battery.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the cable to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  13. Install the battery negative cable to the battery.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the cable to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
