INFO ON SERVICING 6.5L TURBO DIESEL (TURBO RETURN PROC.)

SUBJECT: INFORMATION ON SERVICING 6.5L TURBOCHARGED DIESEL ENGINE TURBOCHARGER ASSEMBLY

MODELS: 1992 C/K TRUCKS WITH 6.5L (VIN F) ENGINE

The turbocharger on 1992 C/K trucks will be serviced as a complete assembly. Complete turbocharger diagnostics are provided in the 1992 service manual. Turbocharger P/N 12515808, along with installation check list, may be ordered through the service parts organization.

The normal warranty claim system procedures will apply except that all turbochargers will be required to be returned to the vendor.

The following are procedures for returning the turbocharger assembly.

A. Complete the warranty return procedure report (shown on reverse).

B. Provide the repair order number and Technical Assistance number, if applicable, on the space shown on the return shipping label provided.

C. The turbocharger assembly must be returned in the same box received via UPS prepaid to the vendor.

Note: The wastegate canister/rod should be serviced separately and will not require the removal of the turbocharger

Parts are expected to be available on October 21, 1991. In case of limited inventory, parts will be placed on 400 Control to waive VIP surcharges. Only verifiable emergency VIP orders will be accepted. SPO will make every effort to obtain parts. However, the part will be shipped premium transportation at dealer's expense and all other order types will be placed on backorder until the 400 control is removed.
