BOLT TORQUE SPEC REVISION INFO/700 TRANSMISSION

MODELS: 1982-1983 LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH 700R-4 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS

Beginning in October 1982, some bolt torque specifications were revised or updated for the subject transmission. These changes are shown in the chart below:

BOLT NAME OLD TORQUE SPEC. NEW TORQUE SPEC. Oil Pan to Case Bolt 24N.m. (18 ft. lb.) 16N.m. (12 ft. lb.) Hsg. to Case 31N.m. (23 ft. lb.) 34N.m. (26 ft. lb.) *1/4-18 NPTF Pipe Plug 24N.m. (18 ft. lb.)

*This is a new (larger) pressure plug being used in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th clutch pressure taps. The smaller plug (1/8-27 NPTF) used in the past for these taps and currently used in the line pressure tap remains at 11 N.m. (8 ft. lb.).
