INSTRUMENT PANEL DELAMINATION RH & LH DASH DISTORTION OUTLET

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1979-90 G1,G2,G3 VAN (INSTALL DEFROST BEZEL)

Some of the above subject vehicles may over some time experience a delamination condition on instrument panels around the defroster outlet area because of a lack of adhesive of poor bonding. Delamination can distort the instrument panel in the areas of the RH and/or LH defroster outlets.

To correct, defroster bezels have been released shielding (covering) the affected defroster outlet area (RH or LH) on the instrument panel.

If the delamination condition does NOT exceed 1/2" in the corners of the defroster outlet area, a defroster outlet bezel can be used. If the delamination condition is greater than that described, it is necessary to replace the instrument panel.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: (Refer to illustration)

1. Place correct bezel over affected instrument panel defroster outlet area.

2. Using attaching clips, hold bezel in correct position and snap clips over the bezel and defroster as shown in illustration. Four clips can be used on the LH bezel (two additional clips are optional). Two clips are used on the RH bezel.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
