Subject:2004, 2005 Full Size Pickup and Sport Utility Vehicles Power Seat Will Not Retain Preset Memory Position

Models:

This message is in follow-up to GM Messenger number VSS20040205 pertaining to the full size trucks memory seat module. Due to numerous dealer inquiries, I need to inform you that the revised module to correct the seat creep condition, that is that the preset memory position changes gradually over time, will not be available until the year end timeframe. Do not replace the module in the meantime for this condition as the current module will not correct it.

However, a different condition is currently being reported. If you encounter a vehicle where the preset seat position changes significantly, as opposed to gradually, on a random basis, please capture and report the following information using the field product reporting procedure.

Using a Tech 2, go through the following screens:

    • Body
    • Driver Seat Module
    • Data Display
    • And finally, Sensor Data

Capture the position count information in both the preset memory position and the position the seat returns to after it is cycled. Include the position count and any other observations in your field product report.
