This PI is being updated to remove all references to S/T Mid sized trucks. These vehicles do not have the sleeve. Please discard PIP3309B.


The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Fluid leak from the rear transmission slip yoke vent hole.

Recommendation/Instructions:

The area of the sleeve that is pressed onto the output shaft is short in length allowing fluid to seep by after the vehicle sits for an extended period of time. Replace the output shaft sleeve (690) and o-ring (691).

Not all vehicles make use of an output shaft sleeve. The most accurate and up to date source of information on which models use an output shaft sleeve is available from the GMSPO parts catalog.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
