Preliminary Procedures

1. Remove the radiator grille assembly. Refer to Grille Replacement .
2. Cover a work bench with a clean cloth-type material in order to prevent damage to the outer surface of the radiator grille assembly.
3. Place the radiator grille on the bench with the radiator grille strap heat stakes facing upward.
4. Using a small-type hand grinder carefully grind the old heat stake material in order to remove the radiator grille strap from the inner grille strap.
5. Remove the radiator grille strap.
6. Insert the new radiator grille strap to the inner radiator grille.
7. Press and hold the radiator grille strap material so the inner grille is flush with the strap.
8. Using a Weller Model 8200 soldering gun (or equivalent) equipped with a flat-tip, using a circular motion on the heat stake material, melt it flush to the inner grille surface.
9. Continue to hold even pressure on both parts for approximately 30 seconds after the heat stake melting process for the heat stake to harden.
10. Repeat steps 7 through 9 for the other heat stake tabs.

Hold the grille strap tight to the inner grille until all three heat stakes have been melted and are secure.
