Programming and Setup Procedures

The following service procedures require either a programming or a setup event performed for a complete repair.

Transfer Case Shift Control Module Replacement

If the transfer case shift control module is replaced, the transfer case shift control module reprogramming procedure must be performed. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) in Vehicle Control Systems.

Transfer Case Shift Control Module Reprogramming

If the transfer case shift control module needs to be reprogrammed, refer to Service Programming System (SPS) in Vehicle Control Systems.

Ensure that the following conditions exist in order to prepare for transfer case shift control module programming or reprogramming:

    • The battery is fully charged.
    • The ignition switch is in the RUN position.
    • The Techline equipment cable connection at the data link connector (DLC) is secure.

Program the transfer case shift control module using the latest software matching the vehicle. Refer to up-to-date Techline equipment user instructions.

If the transfer case shift control module fails to program, proceed as follows:

    • Ensure that the transfer case shift control module connection is OK.
    • Inspect the Techline equipment for the latest software version.
    • Attempt to program the transfer case shift control module. If the transfer case shift control module still cannot be programmed properly, replace the transfer case shift control module.

This device requires no setup.
