Evaporative Emission Canister Replacement Pickup

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 303871  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Disconnect the rear evaporative emission (EVAP) purge pipe (2) at the chassis EVAP purge pipe (3).

  3. Object Number: 303936  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the fuel tank EVAP pipe at the EVAP canister.

  5. Object Number: 385856  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the vent valve pipe (4) at the EVAP canister.

  7. Object Number: 303981  Size: SH
  8. Remove the EVAP canister bracket to crossmember mounting bolt.
  9. Remove the EVAP canister from the vehicle.
  10. Remove the rear EVAP purge pipe from the EVAP canister and the retaining clip.
  11. Remove the EVAP canister from the EVAP canister bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 303981  Size: SH
  1. Install the new EVAP canister to the EVAP canister bracket.
  2. Install the rear EVAP purge pipe to the EVAP canister and the retaining clip.
  3. Install the EVAP canister to the vehicle.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the EVAP canister bracket to crossmember mounting bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Connect the fuel tank EVAP pipe to the EVAP canister.

  8. Object Number: 303871  Size: SH
  9. Connect the rear EVAP purge pipe (2) to the chassis EVAP purge pipe.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
