Removal Procedure

    Caution: Replace the O-ring seals exposed during component service in order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury that may result from a fuel leak.

  1. Loosen filler caps to relieve the fuel system pressure.
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  3. Object Number: 19669  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the fuel pump harness connector.

  5. Object Number: 19670  Size: SH
  6. Clean both fuel pipe connections and surrounding areas at the fuel pump before disconnecting to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system.
  7. Disconnect both fuel pipes from the pump.

  8. Object Number: 19671  Size: SH
  9. Slide the pump out of the bracket.
  10. Cap the fuel pipes.

Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the caps from the fuel pipes.
  2. Install the new fuel pipe O-rings.

  3. Object Number: 19671  Size: SH
  4. Position the new pump in the pump bracket.

  5. Object Number: 19670  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Connect the fuel feed pipe and suction pipe to the fuel pump. Use a backup wrench to prevent the pump from turning.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fittings to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  8. Connect the fuel pump harness connector.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Install the fuel filler cap.
