  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Roll down the windows.
  3. Close all doors.
  4. Connect a scan tool.
  5. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  6. Using the scan tool, check for any DTCs in the body control module (BCM).

Does the scan tool show any DTCs?

Depress the LH door lock switch to the lock position.

Does both door locks function?

Depress the LH door lock switch to the unlock position.

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Replace the batteries in the transmitter if the condition is unknown. Refer to Transmitter Battery Replacement .
  3. Depress the lock button then the unlock button on the transmitter.

Do the doors lock then unlock?

  1. Try a known good transmitter.
  2. Using a scan tool, program the transmitter. Refer to Transmitter Programming .
  3. Depress the lock button then the unlock button on the transmitter.

  1. Disconnect the remote control door lock receiver.
  2. Connect a test lamp from terminal 1 to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 1140 (ORN) between the fuse and the module.

Is the repair complete?

Connect a self powered test lamp from terminal 4 to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 1850 (BLK) between the module and G203.

Is the repair complete?

Using a J 39200 DMM, measure the voltage from terminal 2 to ground.

Is the voltage within the value indicated?

Varies 1-10V

  1. Disconnect the BCM.
  2. Using a J 39200 DMM, check the continuity of CKT 461 (ORN).

Is the wire open?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 461 (ORN) between the BCM and the remote control door lock receiver.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Replace the remote control door lock receiver. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement .

Replace the transmitter(s).
