Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  3. Object Number: 493216  Size: SH
  4. Relieve the tension from the park brake cables by loosening the nut at the equalizer.
  5. Remove the safety stands.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Remove the left side hinge pillar panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  8. Disconnect the park brake warning lamp connection.
  9. Remove the MID-Bussed Electrical Center bracket. Refer to Fuse Block Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

  11. Disconnect the park brake release cable from the park brake lever.

  12. Object Number: 376012  Size: SH
  13. Remove the park brake lever mounting nuts.
  14. Disconnect the front park brake cable from the park brake lever.
  15. Remove the park brake lever.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 376012  Size: SH
  1. Connect the front park brake cable to the park brake lever.
  2. Install the park brake lever.
  3. Install the MID-Bussed Electrical Center bracket. Refer to Fuse Block Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the park brake lever mounting nuts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  8. Tighten the nut to the intermediate cable at the equalizer.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

  10. Remove the safety stands.
  11. Lower the vehicle.

  13. Connect the park brake release cable to the park brake lever.
  14. Connect the park brake warning lamp connection.
  15. Install the left side hinge pillar panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
  16. Install the left side kick panel.
  17. Connect the negative battery cable.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 17 N·m(13 lb ft).
