Was the instrument panel cluster (IPC) system check performed?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. With a scan tool select instrument panel cluster (IPC), special functions, and lamp test.
  3. Command the check engine oil level message ON.

Does the check engine oil level message turn ON and OFF when commanded?

Go to Low Engine Oil Level Indicator Diagnosis for 4.3L

or Engine Oil Level Sensor and/or Switch Diagnosis

Go to Step 3

Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement
