Condition
Some owners/operators may comment about contact occurring between the radiator surge tank and the underside of the low sloped hood, RPO T40, on the above listed vehicles. The surge tank reservoir cap may interfere with the sloped hood and may damage the hood.
Correction
Revised surge tank mounting brackets have been developed in order to correct this condition. These revised brackets lower the surge tank and will create an acceptable clearance between the surge tank and the sloped hood.
Replace the surge tank mounting brackets on the affected vehicles. Use the part numbers listed below. Refer to the Engine Cooling subsection of the appropriate Medium Duty Service Manual for surge tank replacement information.
