Section I -- Passenger Car Label Information

General -- All Passenger Cars (1998)

Labels are pressure sensitive, therefore, surfaces must be clean, dry, warm and free of contaminants, before labels are affixed. Labels must be pressed firmly over their entire surface.

Locate labels next to corresponding English labels, unless otherwise noted. Both labels must be readable.

Engine Compartment

  1. Fan Caution Label
  2. If vehicle is equipped with an English label, place a bilingual label over it. Otherwise, place the French label adjacent to the English embossed message on fan shroud.

    • For J, N, M, W, Y-Car and U-Van use label 52355271

  3. Wiper Upkeep -- Delco Water Bottle Cap Tag
  4. For all applicable models, add 52366236 to the back of the English Tag which is part of the Bottle Assembly (This will be used on any vehicle with a Delco supplied water container for the windshield)

  5. Battery Caution Labels
  6. Battery labels are placed on top of the existing label.

    • Use 52368737 for Delco Batteries with a Service Tab on the RH side of the label
    • Use 52368738 for Delco Batteries with a Service Tab on the LH side of the battery (The cutout should allow the tab to be lifted)
  7. A/C Label (R-134a)
  8. All vehicles using R-134a refrigerant will use these 2 labels. They are to be placed adjacent to the English labels if space permits and, if not, they are to be placed in a prominent position so that viewers will be aware the vehicle uses R-134a refrigerant. The part numbers are 52366391 and 52366392

  16. Important: An English/French SIR caution label is required to be present and readily visible to the customer on any Air Bag equipped vehicle built on or after January 1, 1998 to comply with CMVSS 208 requirements.

  17. Please note Sun-Visor labels are often of very strong adhesive, care should be taken that they are applied properly as adjustment may prove impossible. Should space not be available and the headlining used, please be sure that the Sun-Visor in the up position covers the label.
  18. • For Corvette, use 52368715 (2) on Sun-Visor if English/French label is not present
    • For all vehicles except Corvette, use 52368704 (2) on Sun-Visors if English/French label is not present and place 52368736 adjacent to English alert label if visor SIR label is not readily visible
    • For all vehicles, place adhesive backed caution tag 52368736 to or in close proximity to the English caution tag on the front of the dash
    • For all vehicles, place French label 52368786 directly above English label 15012285 "Next Generation Air Bag" on drive's door inside glass when used
  19. Caution Seat Code (Label Chart 52367973)
  20. There are 15 possible seat labels provided on a single sheet of backing. Care must be taken to put the correct label beside the existing English Label.

    There are 5 seat operation labels which are applied to the seat upholstery on the U-Van, as dictated by seat type.

    Use 52368190-1-2-3-4 as is applicable and place adjacent to English label.
