Removal Procedure
- Remove the license pocket lamps. Refer to Rear License Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
- Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement .
- Disconnect the bellcrank rod from the outside door release handle.
- Remove the screws that retain the license pocket to the liftgate.
- Remove the license pocket from the liftgate.
- Remove the liftgate handle from the license pocket. Refer to Liftgate Outside Handle Replacement .
Installation Procedure
- Install the liftgate handle to the license plate pocket. Refer to Liftgate Outside Handle Replacement .
- Install the license plate pocket to the panel.
- Install the panel to the liftgate.
- Install the screws that retain the panel to the liftgate, starting with the bottom center screw first.
- Install the bellcrank rod to the outside door release handle.
- Install the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement .
- Install the license pocket lamps. Refer to Rear License Lamp Replacement in Lighting Systems.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
