Initialization and Re-initialization of Sunroof MDIV Motor - kw GMT360 GMT370 GMT305 CF5 roof liftglass panel top hatch

Subject: Initialization and Re-initialization of Sunroof MDIV Motor

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:

Initialization and re-initialization of GMT 360/370/305 sunroof MDIV Motor on vehicles produced after approx. 2/24/03.

Recommendation/Instructions:

1st Time Motor Assembly Installation, Initialization

Initialization (Steps 1 and 2) and Teach Mode (Steps 3 and 4)

    • (1) Press and hold the open switch until the glass panel stalls at the hard stop. The glass panel then moves forward a couple of millimeters. This position is called the soft stop or full open position.
    • (2) Release the switch.
    • (3) Press and hold the open switch within six seconds of step 2, continue holding until the glass panel moves to the closed position and stops.
    • (4) Release the switch.

2nd, 3rd or next time Motor Assembly Initialization

Re-Initialization (Steps 1 through 4) and Teach Mode (Steps 5 and 6)

    • (1) Press and hold the open switch until the glass panel stops at the full open position.
    • (2) Release the switch.
    • (3) Press and hold the open switch for ten seconds or greater. The glass panel will now move further rearward of the open position, stall at the hard stop, and jump back to the soft stop (full open position).
    • (4) Release the switch.
    • (5) Press and hold the open switch within six seconds of step 4, continue holding until the glass panel moves to the closed position and stops.
    •  (6) Release the switch.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
