Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement Chevrolet

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the center console. Refer to Console Replacement .
  2. Remove the center lower closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 712822  Size: SH
  4. Remove the lower trim plate retaining screws.
  5. Starting at the bottom of the trim plate, release the 2 lower retaining clips and the 2 intermediate retaining clips.
  6. Release the 3 upper retaining clips.
  7. Disconnect the electrical connectors as necessary.
  8. If replacing the trim plate, perform the following steps:
  9. 7.1. If equipped, remove the transfer case shift control switch. Refer to Transfer Case Shift Control Switch Replacement .
    7.2. Remove the rear windshield wiper switch. Refer to Rear Window Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement in Wiper/Washer Systems.
    7.3. If equipped, remove the cigar lighter and 12-volt power supply. Refer to Cigar Lighter Receptacle or 12-Volt Accessory Power Receptacle Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. If installing a new trim plate, perform the following steps:
  2. 1.1. If equipped, install the cigar lighter or 12-volt power supply outlets. Refer to Cigar Lighter Receptacle or 12-Volt Accessory Power Receptacle Replacement .
    1.2. Install the rear windshield wiper switch. Refer to Rear Window Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement in Wiper/Washer Systems.
    1.3. If equipped, install the transfer case shift control switch. Refer to Transfer Case Shift Control Switch Replacement .

  3. Connect the electrical connectors as necessary.
  4. Install the trim plate to the IP. Ensure that all of the retaining clips are properly seated.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the lower trim plate retaining screws.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

  8. Install the center closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement .
  9. Install the center console. Refer to Console Replacement .

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the console shift lever bezel. Refer to Console Shift Lever Bezel Replacement .

  3. Remove the lower trim plate retaining screws.
  4. Starting at the bottom of the trim plate, release the 2 lower retaining clips and the 2 intermediate retaining clips.
  5. Release the 3 upper retaining clips.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors as necessary.
  7. If replacing the trim plate, perform the following steps:
  8. 6.1. Remove the rear windshield wiper switch. Refer to Rear Window Wiper and Washer Switch Replacement in Wiper/Washer Systems.
    6.2. If equipped, remove the cigar lighter and 12-volt power supply. Refer to Cigar Lighter Receptacle or 12-Volt Accessory Power Receptacle Replacement .
