Did you perform the Lighting Diagnostic System Check?

Verify that the DRL headlamps are on with the parking brake applied.

Do the DRL headlamps operate normally with the parking brake applied?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Set the park brake.
  2. Turn the ignition On with the engine OFF.
  3. With the scan tool, read the park brake switch status.

Does the scan tool display SET?

Go to Step 6

  1. Disconnect the park brake switch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire between the park brake switch signal circuit and the ground circuit.
  3. With the scan tool, read the park brake switch status.

Does the scan tool display SET?

Go to Step 7

Test for an open or high resistance in the park brake switch signal circuit or ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the Body Control Module (BCM). Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the park brake switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Important: Perform the setup procedure for the BCM.

Replace the body control module (BCM). Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
