  1. Start the engine.
  2. Allow engine to reach operating temperature.
  3. Turn the temperature setting to the hot position.

Does warm air flow out of the rear HVAC outlet ducts?

Using an external vacuum source, apply vacuum to the coolant by pass valve assembly.

Does the valve open and close?

Go to Step 5

Go to Coolant Bypass Valve Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning

With the coolant by-pass valve removed, inspect the valve for binding.

Does the valve move freely?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

Replace the coolant by pass valve. Refer to Coolant Bypass Valve Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 5

Cycle the HVAC controls in order to verify proper operation.
