Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 825832  Size: SH

    Important: In order to completely drain the oil from the oil pan internal baffling, the bottom of the oil pan must be level during the oil drain procedure.

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Remove the oil fill cap.
  3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  4. Place a oil drain pan under the oil pan drain plug.
  5. Remove the oil pan drain plug.
  6. Drain the engine oil.

  8. Remove the oil filter from the oil pan.
  9. Inspect the old oil filter to ensure that the filter seal is not left on the oil pan.

Installation Procedure

  1. Wipe the excess oil from the oil filter mounting.

  2. Object Number: 825833  Size: SH
  3. Lubricate the oil filter seal with clean engine oil.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the oil filter to the oil pan.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the filter to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  7. Wipe the excess oil from the drain plug hole.

  9. Install the oil drain plug to the oil pan.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan drain plug to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Fill the crankcase with the proper quantity and grade of engine oil. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities and to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations .
  13. Remove the oil level indicator.
  14. Wipe the indicator with a clean cloth.
  15. Install the oil level indicator.
  16. Remove the oil level indicator in order to check the level.
  17. Add oil if necessary.
  18. Close the hood.
