The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Starting midyear 2005, a new BCM was installed in the mid-sized trucks listed above. This new BCM is not interchangeable with the previous version and it is important to make sure the correct BCM is installed when replacing a BCM in a vehicle.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Prior to ordering or replacing a BCM, use the Tech 2 and obtain the BCM part number from the original BCM currently in the vehicle. Use the 8 digit GM part number listed on the Tech 2 as a starting point when ordering a new BCM. If the number supersedes, install which ever supersession the parts catalog lists for the vehicles application.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
