Exhaust Seal Replacement With LLV or LLR

Warning: Refer to Exhaust Service Warning in the Preface section.

Warning: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Warning in the Preface section.

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .



2. Remove the 3 nuts attaching the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold.
3. Position the exhaust system rearward, enough to allow clearance to remove the seal.



4. Remove the exhaust manifold seal from the exhaust manifold flange. Discard the seal.

1. Install the NEW seal to the exhaust manifold flange.



2. Position the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

3. Install the 3 nuts attaching the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold and tighten to 50 N·m (37 lb ft) .
4. Lower the vehicle.

Exhaust Seal Replacement With LH8

Warning: Refer to Exhaust Service Warning in the Preface section.

Warning: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Warning in the Preface section.

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
2. Disconnect the muffler assembly from the calalytic converters. Refer to Exhaust Muffler Replacement.



3. If removing the left side seal, perform the following:

3.1.	Remove the catalytic converter to exhaust manifold nuts (1).

Note: Support the converter with mechanics wire.

3.2.	Position the catalytic converter rearward enough in order to allow clearance to remove the seal.

3.3.	Remove and discard the exhaust manifold seal (2).




4. If removing the right side seal, perform the following:

4.1.	Remove the catalytic converter to exhaust manifold nuts (2).

Note: Support the converter with mechanics wire.

4.2.	Position the catalytic converter rearward enough in order to allow clearance to remove the seal.

4.3.	Remove and discard the exhaust manifold seal (1).

1. If the right side seal was removed, Perform the following:

1.1.	Position the catalytic converter rearward enough in order to allow clearance to install the seal.

1.2.	Install a NEW exhaust manifold seal (1).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

1.3.	Install the catalytic converter to exhaust manifold nuts (2) and tighten to 50 N·m (37 lb ft.




2. If removing the left side seal, perform the following:

2.1.	Position the catalytic converter rearward enough in order to allow clearance to install the seal.

2.2.	Install a NEW exhaust manifold seal (2).

2.3.	Install the catalytic converter to exhaust manifold nuts (1) and tighten to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

3. Connect the muffler assembly to the calalytic converters. Refer to Exhaust Muffler Replacement.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Inspect for exhaust leaks.
