    • J 42450-A Wheel Hub Resurfacing Kit

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1254675  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the rear brake drum retainer.

  4. Object Number: 1254558  Size: SH

    Important: Before removing the brake drum, apply a small amount of penetrating oil around the wheel studs, axle shaft hub, and brake drum.

  5. Remove the rear brake drum.

  6. Object Number: 1357504  Size: SH
  7. If the brake drum cannot be removed, perform the following.
  8. 5.1. Remove the rubber plug from the backing plate.
    5.2. Insert a screwdriver (2), until contact has been made with the adjuster lever (1).
    5.3. Slightly push the adjuster actuator (4) lever away from the adjuster (1).
    5.4. Using a second screwdriver (2), rotate the adjuster (1) in an upward motion, until the adjuster is seated.
    5.5. Remove the brake drum.

  9. Using the J 42450-A , clean the mating surface between the rear axle flange and the brake drum.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1241711  Size: SH
  1. Using the J 22364-01  (1), measure the brake drum.

  2. Object Number: 1241702  Size: SH
  3. Using the J 22364-01  (1), adjust the rear brake shoes.

  4. Object Number: 1254558  Size: SH
  5. Install the brake drum.
  6. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  7. Lower the vehicle.
