DTC B1001: Option Configuration Error

Circuit/System Description

The body control module (BCM) stores the last 4 digits of the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) part number, also called restraints ID. After the BCM is reprogrammed the restraints ID is set to zero. A restraints ID relearn must be performed for the BCM to learn the restraints ID.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Battery voltage is between 9-16 volts and data link communications operate normally.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The restraints ID stored in the BCM memory is zero.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • A current DTC clears when the condition is no longer present.
    • A history DTC clears when the module ignition cycle counter reaches the reset threshold, without a repeat of the malfunction.

Circuit/System Verification

Program the body control module (BCM). Refer to Body Control Module Programming and Setup .

If the DTC remains current, replace the BCM. Refer to Repair Instructions.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
