Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the knee bolster trim panel. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement

  2. Object Number: 1251761  Size: SH
  3. Release the tab (1) retaining the data link communication (DLC) connector to the knee bolster.
  4. Remove the DLC connector from the knee bolster.

  5. Object Number: 1276396  Size: SH
  6. Remove the fasteners retaining the knee bolster to the instrument panel (I/P) structure.

  7. Object Number: 1276397  Size: SH
  8. Release the intrigal knee bolster hangars (1) from the I/P structure.
  9. Remove the knee bolster from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1276397  Size: SH
  1. Position the knee bolster to the vehicle.
  2. Hang the knee bolster (1) on the I/P structure.

  3. Object Number: 1276396  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the fasteners retaining the knee bolster to the I/P structure.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  6. Install the DLC connector to the knee bolster, ensuring the tab (1) is properly seated.
  7. Install the knee bolster trim panel. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Panel Replacement
