Turn ON the ignition.

Does the security indicator illuminate during the bulb check?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the body control module (BCM) connector containing the security indicator control circuit.
  3. Ground the security indicator control circuit with a fused jumper wire and appropriate terminal adapter.

Does the security indicator LED illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the instrument panel cluster (IPC).
  2. Probe the security indicator LED battery positive voltage circuit with a test lamp connected to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 5

Test the security indicator control circuit for an open or short to battery. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the IPC. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open or short to ground in the security indicator battery positive voltage circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
