Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 1350744  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (3) from the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor (1).

  4. Object Number: 858202  Size: SH
  5. Remove the CKP sensor bolt.
  6. Remove the CKP sensor from the engine block.
  7. Discard the O-ring seals.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install new O-ring seals to the CKP sensor.
  2. Lightly lubricate the O-ring seals with clean engine oil.

  3. Object Number: 858202  Size: SH
  4. Install the CKP sensor into the engine block.
  5. Add sealer GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480) to the CKP sensor bolt threads.
  6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Install the CKP sensor bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  9. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (3) to the CKP sensor (1).
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Perform the crankshaft (CKP) system variation learn procedure. Refer to Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn .
