Special Tools

CH 558-10 Closure Cap

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools.

Warning: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning in the Preface section.

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution in the Preface section.

Removal Procedure

  1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.

  2. Object Number: 2027873  Size: SH

    Note: Do NOT disconnect engine coolant hoses.

  3. Remove the radiator surge tank clip (2).
  4. Remove the radiator surge tank (1).
  5. Position the radiator surge tank (1) aside.

  6. Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap and install CH 558-10 cap  (1) in order to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
  7. Caution: Always connect or disconnect the wiring harness connector from the EBCM/EBTCM with the ignition switch in the OFF position. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to the EBCM/EBTCM.

  8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the EBCM/EBTCM.

    Note: Cap the brake pipe fittings to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  10. Remove the 6 brake pipes (1, 2) from the BPMV.

  12. Remove the 2 BPMV bracket bolts (2).
  13. Remove the BPMV bracket assembly (1).

  14. Object Number: 2027916  Size: SH
  15. Remove the 3 BMPV bracket bolts (4).
  16. Remove the BMPV (2).
  17. Remove the BMPV insulator (1) from the BMPV bracket (4).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 2027916  Size: SH
  1. Install the BMPV insulator (1) to the BMPV bracket (3).
  2. Install the BMPV (2).
  3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Install the 3 BMPV bracket bolts (4). Tighten the BMPV bracket bolts 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Object Number: 2027887  Size: SH
  6. Install the BPMV bracket assembly (1).
  7. Install the 2 BPMV bracket bolts (2) and tighten to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  8. Object Number: 2027877  Size: SH

    Note: Cap the brake pipe fittings to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  9. Install the 6 brake pipes (1, 2) to the BPMV and tighten to 18 N·m (14 lb ft).
  10. Connect the electrical connector to the EBCM/EBTCM.

    Caution: When adding fluid to the brake fluid reservoir or to the clutch fluid reservoir, use only Super DOT-4 or equivalent DOT-4 brake fluid from a clean, sealed container. This polyglycol brake fluid is hygroscopic and absorbs moisture. Do not use fluid from an open container that may be contaminated with water. Improper or contaminated fluid could result in damage to the system components.

  12. Remove the CH 558-10 cap  (1) and install the brake fluid reservoir cap.

  13. Object Number: 2027873  Size: SH
  14. Install the radiator surge tank (1).
  15. Install the radiator surge tank clip (2).
  16. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
