Removal Procedure

  1. Open hood.
  2. Disconnect battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  3. Warning: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

  4. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
  5. Remove the fuel feed hose. Refer to Fuel Hose Replacement - Fuel Injection Pump to Fuel Feed Block.

    Note: Place caps on the open fuel rail connectors to avoid contamination from dust as soon as the fuel rail tubes are removed.

  7. Remove the 4 fuel injection fuel rail pipes (1).
  8. Disconnect the fuel rail fuel pressure sensor wiring harness plug.
  9. Remove the 2 fuel rail nuts (3).
  10. Remove the fuel rail (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fuel rail (2).
  2. Install the 2 fuel rail nuts (3).
  3. Connect the fuel rail fuel pressure sensor wiring harness plug.
  4. Install 4 NEW fuel injection fuel rail tubes (1).
  5. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

    Note: Counter hold the injector tube connector (2) and tighten the fuel rail tube to injector nut (1).

  6. Tighten the fuel rail tube nuts (1) to:
  7. • Fuel injectors  27 N·m (20 lb ft)
    • The fuel rail  20 N·m (15 lb ft)
  8. Install the fuel feed hose. Refer to Fuel Hose Replacement - Fuel Injection Pump to Fuel Feed Block.
  9. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
  10. Connect battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
