Catalytic Converter Heat Shield Replacement 2L Diesel LLW

1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.




Note: Mark the positions from the hoses.

2. Remove the 2 PCV valve vacuum hoses (5) from the vacuum pipe and EGR valve.
3. Remove the wiring harness plug from the vacuum modulator (2).
4. Remove the 2  PCV valve nuts (4).
5. Remove the PCV valve (3).

Note: Do not damage the sealing surfaces.

6. Remove the PCV valve gasket (1).

Warning: Refer to Exhaust Service Warning in the Preface section.

Warning: Refer to Protective Goggles and Glove Warning in the Preface section.




7. Remove the catalytic converter heat shield bolt (1).
8. Remove the 2  catalytic converter heat shield nuts (3).
9. Remove the catalytic converter heat shield (2).

1. Install the catalytic converter heat shield (2).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

2. Install the 2  catalytic converter heat shield nuts (3) and tighten to  20N·m (15 lb ft).
3. Install the catalytic converter heat shield bolt (1) and tighten to  20N·m (15 lb ft).



4. Install a NEW PCV valve gasket (1).
5. Install the PCV valve (3).
6. Install the 2  PCV valve nuts (4) and tighten to  11N·m (98 lb in).
7. Install the wiring harness plug at the vacuum modulator (2).
8. Install the 2 PCV valve vacuum hoses (5).
9. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.

Catalytic Converter Heat Shield Replacement 1.6L LXV

1. Remove the wiring harness bracket bolt (2) and the wiring harness bracket (1).
2. Remove the 2 exhaust manifold heat shield bolts (4).
3. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield (3).

1. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield (3).

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

2. Install the 2 exhaust manifold heat shield bolts (4) and tighten to  8 N·m (71 lb in).
3. Install the wiring harness bracket (1) and the wiring harness bracket bolt (2) and tighten to  15 N·m (11 lb ft).
