Exhaust System Description 2L Diesel LLW

Catalytic Converter

Object Number: 1820487 Size: SH

The catalyst converters are emission control devices added to the exhaust system to reduce pollutions from the exhaust pipes.

It has a coating only platinum, which simultaneously lower the level of HC and CO. But NOx is able to be reduced from the engine control system (example: cooled EGR system, etc).

Exhaust Particulate Filter

Object Number: 2028001 Size: SH

The exhaust particulate filter is reduce all soot particles.

The particle filter consists of a solid honeycomb-like body made from silicon carbide, which is full of microscopic channels. The exhaust flows through the channels and soot particles are deposited on the channel walls.

It is mounted between the catalytic converter and the rear muffler.

Exhaust Rear Muffler

Object Number: 2027986 Size: SH

The rear muffler is to reduce broad band engine exhaust noise. It is comprised of a series of perforated tubes and baffles to break up the sound waves and reflect them.

It is made of stainless steel to protect the front muffler from corrosion.

It is mounted behind the rear wheel.

Exhaust System Description 1.6L LXV

Catalytic Converter

Object Number: 1820487 Size: SH

The catalytic converter is an emission control device added to the engine exhaust system in order to reduce hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), and oxides of nitrogen (NOx) pollutants from the exhaust gas. The catalytic converter is comprised of a ceramic monolith substrate, supported in insulation and housed within a sheet metal shell. The substrate may be washcoated with 3 noble metals, Platium (Pt), Palladium (Pd) and Rhodium (Rh). The catalyst in the converter is not serviceable.
