Flywheel to Torque Converter Bolt Replacement LA1

Tools Required

J 37096 Flywheel Holder

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 289471  Size: SH
  3. Remove the torque converter cover. Refer to Torque Converter Cover Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 309963  Size: SH
  5. Use the J 37096 in order to rotate the flywheel and access the torque converter bolts.
  6. Use the J 37096 to hold the flywheel.

  7. Object Number: 160984  Size: SH
  8. Remove the flywheel to torque converter bolts.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the flywheel to torque converter bolts.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Use the J 37623 to hold the flywheel.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 63 N·m (47 lb ft).

  5. Install the torque converter cover. Refer to Torque Converter Cover Replacement .
  6. Lower the vehicle.
