Connector End View Reference: Master Electrical Component List in Wiring Systems

DEFINITION: One of the following lamps are inoperative from its switch:

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information

Press each reading lamp switch.

Do all of the reading lamps operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. Remove the inoperative reading lamp bulb.
3. Place the reading lamp switch in the ON position.
4. Using a test lamp, probe between the supply voltage circuit and the ground circuit of the bulb socket with a test lamp.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 4

1. Disconnect the inoperative reading lamp connector.
2. Using a test lamp connected to ground, probe the supply voltage circuit of the inoperative reading lamp connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Using a test lamp, probe between battery positive voltage and the ground circuit of the inoperative reading lamp connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 7

Repair an open or high resistance in the supply voltage circuit of the inoperative reading lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 10

Repair an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the inoperative reading lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 10

Replace the inoperative reading lamp. Refer to one of the following procedures:

Go to Step 10

Replace the inoperative reading lamp bulb.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 10

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
