DEFINITION: This test checks the RF door lock switch, the front passenger, LR, RR and lift gate door lock actuators and their associated circuits.

Did you perform the Door Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Verify that the passenger door power door locks inoperative fault is present.

Do the passenger door locks operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Are all of the passenger door locks inoperative?

Go to Step 6

Are both the lock and unlock functions inoperative?

Go to Step 7

Is the lock function the inoperative function?

Go to Step 8

Test the door lock actuator unlock control circuit of the body control module (BCM) for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test the ground circuit of the RF door lock switch for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the door lock control circuit of the RF door lock switch for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test the door unlock control circuit of the RF door lock switch for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the BCM C1 harness connector.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the door lock actuator lock control circuit pin of the BCM and the door lock actuator unlock control circuit pin of the BCM.
  4. Activate the RF door lock switch to the LOCK and UNLOCK positions.

Did the test lamp illuminate in both positions?

Is the inoperative door lock a sliding door?

Go to Step 12

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect the BCM C1 harness connector.
  3. Disconnect the appropriate sliding door lock switch plate harness connectors.
  4. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the door lock actuator lock control circuit of the pillar mounted striker harness connector and the door lock actuator lock control circuit of the door mounted plunger harness connector.
  5. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the door lock actuator unlock control circuit of the pillar mounted striker harness connector and the door lock actuator unlock control circuit of the door mounted plunger harness connector.
  6. Disconnect the appropriate sliding door lock actuator harness connector.
  7. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  8. Connect a test lamp between the door lock actuator lock control circuit of the appropriate sliding door lock actuator harness connector and the door lock actuator unlock control circuit of the appropriate sliding door lock actuator harness connector.
  9. Activate the RF door lock switch to the LOCK and UNLOCK positions.

Did the test lamp illuminate in both positions?

Test the door lock actuator lock control circuit of the appropriate door lock actuator for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the door lock actuator unlock control circuit of the appropriate door lock actuator for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the appropriate sliding door lock switch plate. Refer to Sliding Door Jamb Contact Plate Replacement .

Replace the appropriate door lock actuator. Refer to Front Side Door Lock Actuator Replacement , Sliding Door Lock Actuator Replacement or Power Sliding Door Lock Actuator Replacement .
