DEFINITION: The open/close function from the overhead console switch or Remote Keyless Entry transmitter is inoperative.

Did you perform the Power Door System Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Attempt to open and close the power sliding door using both OPEN/CLOSE switches and the RKE transmitter.

Do all of the power sliding door OPEN/CLOSE commands operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Does the RKE OPEN/CLOSE command operate properly?

Go to Step 4

  1. Close the power sliding door.
  2. Pull down the overhead console switch assembly leaving the switch connectors connected.
  3. Turn the power sliding door ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
  4. Using a fused jumper wire backprobe the power sliding door OPEN/CLOSE switch signal circuit terminal.
  5. Momentarily ground the fused jumper wire.

Does the power sliding door open?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 9

  1. Close the power sliding door.
  2. Disconnect the remote control door lock receiver connector.
  3. Turn the power sliding door ON/OFF switch ON.
  4. Connect a fused jumper wire to the power sliding door OPEN/CLOSE signal circuit harness connector terminal.
  5. Momentarily ground the fused jumper wire.

Does the power sliding door open?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 9

Perform the previous step with the parking lamps on and the interior lamp dimmer switch turned to the full bright position.

Does the power sliding door open?

Go to Step 8

Repair the high resistance in the overhead console switch ground circuit. Refer to Measuring Voltage Drop and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 12

Test the remote control door lock receiver ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Repair the open or high resistance in the OPEN/CLOSE switch signal circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 12

Inspect for poor connections at the overhead console switch assembly. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Replace the overhead console switch assembly. Refer to Interior Lamp and Multifunction Switch Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 12

Re-initialize the power sliding door and operate the system in order to verify the repair.
