Removal Procedure

Caution:  When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  1. Open and support the hood.
  2. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir.Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  3. Object Number: 315258  Size: SH
  4. Remove the bolt from the hood prop rod base.
  5. Remove the hood prop rod from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 315258  Size: SH
  1. Position the hood prop rod to the body.
  2. Ensure that the anti-rotation tab is located into the upper hole.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolt to the hood prop rod base.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the coolant recovery reservoir.Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  6. Install the stow hood prop rod to the hold down retainer.
  7. Close the hood.
