  1. Pull the cigar lighter out of the cigar lighter housing.
  2. Install the a known good cigar lighter into the cigar lighter housing and push in all the way.
  3. Push in the cigar lighter.
  4. Observe the lighter and verify that the following actions occur:
  5. • The cigar lighter pops out to the edge of the cigar lighter housing.
    • The filament is hot.

Do the above actions occur?

Replace the cigar lighter.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect the CIGAR/DLC fuse.

Is the CIGAR/DLC fuse open?

Repair the short to ground in circuit 440.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

System OK

Use a test light in order to backprobe between the cigar lighter connector terminal A and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 7

Repair a poor connection or open in circuit 440.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

System OK

Use a test lamp in order to backprobe between the cigar lighter connector terminal A and terminal B.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 9

Repair the poor connection or the open in circuit 1450.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

Replace the cigar lighter housing. Refer to Cigar Lighter Housing Replacement - Instrument Panel in Instrument Panel Gauges and Console.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?
