.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some customers may report their rear lift gate will not open from the outside handle. Engineering has determined that the cable routing could cause a binding condition which will inhibit the lift gate from opening properly.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Prior to replacing the lift gate latch, the cable routing and tension should be inspected. Gain access to the cable and latch assembly by removing the lift gate door panel. Unhook the cable from its fastened position and remove the foam support on the cable allowing it to relax. Test the door several times to see if it will open and close without any failures. If the lift gate operates as designed, use a tie strap to fasten the cable back to the lift gate in the relaxed position.

.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
