The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some owners may comment about an engine oil leak. Upon inspection you may find that the oil leak appears to be coming from the area around the front crankshaft seal located in the front engine cover (timing chain cover).

Recommendation/Instructions:

1.Remove components as necessary to access and the front crankshaft oil seal.

2.If the leak is coming from between the seal and the crankshaft, then replace the seal following the replacement information in SI.

3.If the leak is coming from between the seal and the front engine cover, then verify that the seal fits tightly in the cover.

·If the seal is NOT tight in the cover (can be easily removed by hand), then contact Jim Kelly at (586) 492-5612. He will supply you with proper repair information, a parts waiver, and information on where to send the seal and front cover to.

·If the seal IS tight in the cover, remove the seal and inspect the opening in the front engine cover for imperfections. If none are found, install a new seal following the replacement information in SI.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
