Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 871567  Size: SH
  1. Remove the oil level indicator. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement .
  2. Remove the coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Assembly Replacement.
  3. Remove the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right Side .
  4. Remove the pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
  5. If equipped, remove the auxiliary air conditioning (A/C) bracket nut  (2).

  6. Object Number: 832959  Size: SH

    Important: The cylinder head bolts are NOT reusable.

  7. Remove and discard the cylinder head bolts (1, 2, 3).

  8. Object Number: 832960  Size: SH

    Notice: After removal, place the cylinder head on 2 wood blocks in order to prevent damage to the sealing surfaces.

  9. Remove the cylinder head.

  10. Object Number: 832965  Size: SH
  11. Remove and discard the cylinder head gasket.
  12. Clean and inspect the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Cleaning and Inspection .

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 871567  Size: SH
  1. If equipped, install the auxiliary A/C bracket nut (2).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  3. Install the pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
  4. Install the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Right Side .
  5. Install the coolant air bleed pipe. Refer to Coolant Air Bleed Pipe Assembly Replacement .
  6. Install the oil level indicator. Refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Replacement .
