Console Shift Lever Bezel Replacement Oldsmobile
Removal Procedure
- Block the wheels to prevent the vehicle from moving.
- Remove the floor shift control boot from the floor console. Refer to
Floor Shift Control Knob Replacement
in Automatic Transmission.
- Adjust the shift lever fully rearward.
- Remove the console storage bin. Refer to
Front Floor Console Compartment Replacement
.
- Remove the bezel from the floor console by releasing
the retaining clips.
Installation Procedure
Important: If this vehicle was built prior to VIN #384106,
perform the following modifications to the console and the shift bezel.
| • | Locate the left side center attachment point on the driver's side of the
console adjacent to the shifter. The attachment point contains a slot and a hole. |
| • | Using a suitable tool, remove the material between the slot and the hole.
By removing this material, one long slot will be created connecting the
slot and hole. |
| • | Using a suitable tool, remove the locating pin from the underside of the
new shift bezel. The pin is located next to the right rear mounting screw hole on
the shift bezel. |
- Position the bezel to the floor console.
- Install the bezel to the console by seating the retaining clips.
- Install the console storage bin. Refer to
Front Floor Console Compartment Replacement
.
- Install the floor shift control boot to the console. Refer to
Floor Shift Control Knob Replacement
in Automatic Transmission.
- Position the shift lever in the PARK position.
- Remove the wheel blocks from the vehicle.
