    Important: Perform this procedure in order to prevent deployment of the air bags from the reserve energy supply power.

  1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  3. Important: With the AIR BAG fuse removed and the ignition switch in the ON position, the AIR BAG warning indicator illuminates. This is a normal operation and does not indicate a SIR system malfunction.

  4. Remove the AIR BAG fuse (3) from the inline fuse holder, which is located near the base of the steering column.
  5. Remove the IP steering column opening trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Panel Replacement - Left Side in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  6. Remove the following parts:
  7. • The Connector Position Assurance (CPA) (2)
    • The yellow 2-way connector for the inflatable restraint steering wheel module (1)
    • Release then unlock the connector.

  8. Pull out the IP compartment while pushing in the RH and LH stoppers.
  9. Remove the CPA and the yellow 2-way connector from the inflatable restraint IP module pigtail.
  10. Release then unlock the connector.
