For 1990-2009 cars only
- With the throttle valve closed, inspect the accelerator pedal free play (1). The accelerator pedal free play clearance should be 2-7 mm (0.08-0.27 in).
- Loosen the accelerator cable locknut (2) at the throttle body bracket.
- Turn the accelerator cable adjusting nut (1) in order to obtain the specified accelerator pedal free play.
- Repeat Step 1 thru Step 3 until the accelerator pedal free play is within the specified value.
- Install the accelerator cable locknut (2).
- With the accelerator pedal fully depressed, inspect the clearance (2) between the throttle lever (3) and the throttle stop (1). The accelerator cable end play clearance should be 0.5-2.0 mm (0.02-0.07 in) (M/T) and 0.8-1.5 mm (0.03-0.06 in) (A/T).
- Adjust the height of the accelerator pedal stop (1) in order to obtain the specified accelerator cable end play. Refer to Step 6 for specifications.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the accelerator cable locknut to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
