Squeaks and rattles are caused by improperly controlled relative motion between the components. The following are 3 steps used in order to prevent squeaks or rattles:

    • Attach the component securely in order to ensure that there is no relative motion during operation.
    • Separate the components in order to ensure that there is no contact under operating conditions.
    • Insulate the components in order to ensure that there are no squeaks or rattles occurring with relative motion between the components.
Low uniform friction surfaces can be provided in order to eliminate "stick-slip" motion.
