Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the 4 front skid plate bolts.
  3. Remove the front skid plate.
  4. Place a drain pan or suitable container under the transmission cooler hoses.

  5. Object Number: 166745  Size: SH
  6. Remove the 2 screws from the cooler hose retainer clamps (2).
  7. Remove the cooler hoses from the cooler hose retainer clamps.
  8. Remove the following items from the transmission cooler:
  9. • The 2 inlet hose clamps
    • The 2 outlet hose clamps
    • The transmission cooler hoses

  10. Remove the following items from the inlet and outlet cooler pipes at the transmission:
  11. • The 2 inlet hose clamps (3)
    • The 2 outlet hose clamps (3)
    • The transmission cooler hoses (1, 2)

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the transmission cooler hoses to the inlet and the outlet cooler pipes at the transmission.
  2. Secure the transmission cooler hoses with the 2 inlet and outlet hose clamps (2).

  3. Object Number: 166745  Size: SH
  4. Install the transmission cooler hoses to the transmission cooler (1).
  5. Secure the transmission cooler hoses with the 2 inlet and outlet hose clamps (2).
  6. Install the transmission cooler hoses to the cooler hose retainer clamps.
  7. Secure the transmission cooler hoses with the 2 screws.
  8. Install the front skid plate to the vehicle.
  9. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Secure the front skid plate with the 4 bolts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the front skid plate bolts to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).

  12. Lower the vehicle.
