For 1990-2009 cars only
- With the throttle valve closed, measure the accelerator pedal free play (1). The accelerator pedal free play clearance is 2-7 mm (0.08-0.27 in).
- Loosen the accelerator cable locknut (2) at the throttle body bracket.
- Turn the accelerator cable adjusting nut (1) in order to obtain 2-7 mm (0.08-0.27 in) of accelerator pedal free play.
- Install the accelerator cable locknut (2).
- Repeat Step 1 thru Step 4 until the accelerator pedal free play is 2-7 mm (0.08-0.27 in).
- With the accelerator pedal fully depressed, measure the clearance (2) between the throttle lever (3) and the throttle stop (1). Check the accelerator cable end play clearance as follows:
- Adjust the height of the accelerator pedal stop (1) in order to obtain the following accelerator cable end play:
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the accelerator cable locknut to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
