Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

Notice: Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.

Notice: If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are damaged in any way, they must be replaced.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the roof rail SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the front assist handle. Refer to Front Assist Handle Replacement .
  3. Remove the windshield garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  4. Remove the sunshade assembly and the sunshade retainers. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  5. Remove the roof console assembly. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
  6. Remove the front door sill plate. Refer to Front Side Door Sill Plate Replacement .
  7. Remove the rear door sill plate. Refer to Rear Side Door Sill Plate Replacement .
  8. Remove the center pillar lower molding. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Garnish Molding Replacement .
  9. Remove the center pillar upper molding. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  10. Remove the lock pillar molding. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  11. Remove the headliner trim panel molding. Refer to Rear Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  12. Remove the coat hooks. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  13. Remove the sunroof panel window molding. Refer to Sunroof Panel/Window Garnish Molding Replacement .
  14. Remove the rear overhead console. Refer to Video Display Replacement .
  15. Place the rear seats in stowed position.
  16. Remove the front seat headrest.

  10. Remove the lock pillar molding. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  11. Remove the headliner trim panel molding. Refer to Rear Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  12. Remove the coat hooks. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  13. Remove the sunroof panel window molding. Refer to Sunroof Panel/Window Garnish Molding Replacement .
  14. Remove the map/dome lamp. Refer to Dome Lamp Replacement .
  15. Place the rear seats in stowed position.
  16. Remove the front seat headrest.

  4. Remove the sunshade assembly and the sunshade retainers. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  5. Remove the roof console assembly. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
  6. Remove the front door sill plate. Refer to Front Side Door Sill Plate Replacement .
  7. Remove the rear door sill plate. Refer to Rear Side Door Sill Plate Replacement .
  8. Remove the center pillar lower molding. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Garnish Molding Replacement .
  9. Remove the center pillar upper molding. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  10. Remove the lock pillar molding. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  11. Remove the back body opening molding. Refer to Rear Door Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  12. Remove the body rear corner upper molding. Refer to Body Rear Corner Garnish Molding Replacement - Right Side and Body Rear Corner Garnish Molding Replacement - Left Side .
  13. Remove the coat hooks. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  14. Remove the sunroof panel window molding. Refer to Sunroof Panel/Window Garnish Molding Replacement .
  15. Remove the rear overhead console. Refer to Video Display Replacement .
  16. Place the rear seats in the stowed position.
  17. Remove the front seat headrest.
  18. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  19. Remove the roof assist handles. Refer to Front Assist Handle Replacement and Roof Rail Rear Assist Handle Replacement .
  20. Remove the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket .
  21. Remove the second row right seat. Refer to Rear Seat Replacement .
  22. Remove the third row right seat. Refer to Rear Number 2 Seat Replacement .
  23. Disconnect the electrical harness retainers from the windshield pillars.
  24. Disconnect the electrical harness from the BEC under the steering column. Route the wires out.
  25. Remove the right side rear quarter trim. Refer to Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side .
  26. Remove the rearview mirror trim and disconnect the electrical connectors. Refer to Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement .
  27. Remove the sunshade anchor. Refer to Sunshade Anchor Replacement .
  28. Note routing of the wire harness and remove the headliner trim panel assembly (3).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the headliner trim panel assembly (3).
  2. Install the sunshade anchor. Refer to Sunshade Anchor Replacement .
  3. Install the rearview mirror trim and connect the electrical connectors. Refer to Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement .
  4. Install the right side rear quarter trim. Refer to Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement - Right Side .
  5. Connect the electrical harness to the BEC under the steering column.
  6. Connect the electrical harness retainers to the windshield pillars.
  7. Install the third row right seat. Refer to Rear Number 2 Seat Replacement .
  8. Install the second row right seat. Refer to Rear Seat Replacement .
  9. Install the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket .
  10. Install the roof assist handles. Refer to Front Assist Handle Replacement and Roof Rail Rear Assist Handle Replacement .
  11. Install the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  12. Install the front seat headrest.
  13. Install the rear overhead console. Refer to Video Display Replacement .
  14. Install the sunroof panel window molding. Refer to Sunroof Panel/Window Garnish Molding Replacement .
  15. Install the coat hooks. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  16. Install the body rear corner upper molding. Refer to Body Rear Corner Garnish Molding Replacement - Right Side and Body Rear Corner Garnish Molding Replacement - Left Side .
  17. Install the back body opening molding. Refer to Rear Door Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  18. Install the lock pillar molding. Refer to Body Lock Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  19. Install the center pillar upper molding. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  20. Install the center pillar lower molding. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Garnish Molding Replacement .
  21. Install the rear door sill plate. Refer to Rear Side Door Sill Plate Replacement .
  22. Install the front door sill plate. Refer to Front Side Door Sill Plate Replacement .
